What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Coordinator position at CASA-Trinity?
Working under the auspices of the Program Director, the Transportation Coordinator’s primary responsibilities are to ensure safe and reliable transport of consumers to and from scheduled appointments/destinations, and to coordinate transportation needs of consumers with various treatment team members. The driver will provide support to the on-going operations of the programs as needed, including but not limited to grounds inspections, facility inventories, room searches, etc.
This position is Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm, but need to be flexible with this schedule if needed for transports.
Essential Job Functions
· Monitor transportation schedule for client transportation needs identified by treatment team.
· Set up MAS (medical transportation services) for consumer needs that fall under permitted medical transportation.
· Transport clients to and from scheduled appointment/destinations for consumer needs that fall outside of permitted MAS trips or coordinate and schedule trips with peer specialists when appropriate.
· Effectively communicate with consumers and treatment team members about transportation needs.
· Be prepared to accommodate urgent requests for transportation based on consumer crisis or otherwise urgent needs.
· Arrive at destinations on time, per transportation schedule.
· Always interact with clients professionally.
· Operate vehicle for client transportation within parameters of agency policy and procedure.
· Maintain vehicle trip log daily, both agency vehicle logs and OASAS reporting log.
· Maintain the transport vehicle: fill with gas, windshield fluid, etc.
· Monitor safety needs of the vehicle, such as tire pressure, keep the vehicle clean and operating properly, and report any safety or maintenance concerns to supervisor or other administrative staff in a timely manner.
· Ensure that the transport vehicle is in compliance with New York State Motor Vehicle laws
· Adhere to agency policies and procedures regarding confidentiality and other governmental and/or agency regulations.
· Adhere to facility policies regarding client transports.
· Complete bi-weekly inventory of facilities for paper products, cleaning products.
· Complete monthly grounds inspections at both facilities.
· Assist in room searches as necessary.
· Meets with Supervisor for supervision on a regular basis to receive ongoing support and oversight.
Secondary Functions
· Consistently reviews policies and procedures and stays abreast of current laws, regulations, and policies.
· Will be expected to participate in on-call hours, as scheduled.
· Performs other related work as assigned.

The Driver must be able to prioritize situations and manage time and may find that they are needed at irregular hours causing fatigue and stress. The driver may experience stress and stress related symptoms due to interacting with clients in recovery. S/he may be exposed to illness and unsanitary conditions so must take care to protect their own health. They may also have to manage physically threatening clients and be prepared to be responsible for their own safety, and the safety of others.
Work Environment
The employee is expected to adhere to strict policies/regulations relative to being in a tobacco and alcohol-free workplace. Work is performed mostly in a vehicle transporting clients.
Qualifications
Minimum of a High School/GED diploma.
Requires a valid driver’s license with no more than 4 points and no moving violations within the past 6 months.
