Summary
The Trade compliance assistant supports the brokerage compliance team with operational tasks, data analysis, report generation, and document management. Requires strong Excel proficiency (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros are a must), Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau), and a foundation in customs/trade operations (desirable).
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform data analysis and maintain compliance-related reports using advanced Excel functions (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, conditional formatting, and macros).
- Assist in preparing customs documentation and supporting the clearance process for imports.
- Manage operational databases to ensure accurate and up-to-date compliance records.
- Generate recurring and ad-hoc reports for internal and external stakeholders, highlighting key operational metrics.
- Support compliance audits by organizing and retrieving required documentation efficiently.
- Collaborate closely with Customs Brokers, Trade Compliance Analysts, and the Operations Team to ensure timely flow of goods.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes through automation or Excel-based tools.
- Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive trade and customs data.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (International Business, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field).
- 1–2 years of related internship or work experience in trade compliance, logistics, customs brokerage, or operations support.
- Proven expertise in Microsoft Excel (ability to pass an Excel proficiency assessment during the interview process).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to manage large datasets accurately.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau) a bonus.
- Familiarity with U.S. Customs regulations (HTS classification, entry filing basics) is a plus.
