Job Overview
Cascada Spa and Hotel is a premier boutique luxury hotel and hydrothermal spa, offering luxurious accommodations and exceptional wellness experiences. Our LEED Platinum-certified complex emphasizes sustainability in all aspects of its operations. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Engineer to oversee maintenance operations within our property, with a particular emphasis on the sophisticated systems of our hydrothermal spa, complex indoor and outdoor landscaping systems, and sustainable practices. This role is critical in ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, sustainability, and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership and Management :
- Working closely with the Director of Engineering to manage the facilities team, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and professional development.
- Develop and implement departmental goals, objectives, and operational strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
2. Sustainable Practices :
Promote and implement sustainable practices across all facilities and maintenance operations.Ensure compliance with LEED Platinum standards and continually seek ways to improve sustainability performance.Monitor and report on energy usage, water conservation, waste reduction, and other sustainability metrics.3. Hydrothermal Spa Systems :
Oversee the maintenance and repair of all hydrothermal spa facilities, including swimming pools, saunas, steam room, hot tubs, mineral pool(s), and hydrotherapy equipment.Implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program to ensure the longevity and efficient operation of all spa systems.Coordinate and supervise external contractors for specialized repairs and maintenance of spa facilities and equipment.CPO preferred, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.4. Facility and Landscaping Maintenance :
Oversee the maintenance and repair of all hotel facilities, including guest rooms, common areas, food & beverage facilities, wellness facilities, HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical systems.Manage the maintenance and upkeep of complex indoor and outdoor landscaping systems, ensuring aesthetic appeal and functionality.Ensure the hotel and spa comply with all safety and security protocols, including fire safety, health regulations, and building codes.Conduct regular safety inspections and drills.Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work, including compliance documentation.5. Budget and Financial Management :
Assist the Director in the development and management of the facilities department budget, including forecasting expenses and managing operational costs.Assist in Negotiation of contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure cost-effective procurement of goods and services.Monitor and control energy consumption to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.6. Project Management :
Assist with leading facilities projects, including renovations, upgrades, and new installations, from planning to completion.Collaborate with other departments to minimize disruption to hotel and spa operations during project work.Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.Requirements : Qualifications
Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred.5 years of experience in facilities management or engineering, with at least 3 years in a hotel environment with an emphasis on hydrothermal spas or similar environment, or equivalent.Proven experience in managing a team of professionals and overseeing large-scale maintenance operations.Experience with sustainable practices and systems, particularly in a LEED-certified environment.Skills and Competencies :
Strong leadership and team management skills.Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.In-depth knowledge of hydrothermal systems, including saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, and swimming pools, including the CPO program.Proficiency in building management systems and maintenance software.Strong understanding of complex indoor and outdoor landscaping systems.Expertise in sustainable practices and energy management.Strong project management skills, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.Certifications :
Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Hotel Engineer, Certified Pool Operator, LEED AP) are highly desirable.Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and move around the hotel and spa for extended periods.Capability to lift and carry heavy objects, when necessary, 50-100 lbs.Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.Benefits :
