ABOUT CASCADE:

Cascade Community Healthcare (CCH) has been providing treatment services to Lewis County and surrounding areas for more than 50 years. Our mission is to provide our clients with compassionate and encouraging counseling leading to a renewed sense of hope and the ability to make positive changes and live more satisfying lives. Cascade currently has six treatment locations in Lewis County.

 

We are looking for a Peer Counselor to join our SUD team. The Peer Counselor advocates for client choice, self-determination, and decision-making in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of treatment, rehabilitation, and support services. This position also participates in fulfilling requirements for the RCORP grant and CJTA contract.

 

SHIFTS AVAILABLE:

Monday - Thursday, Day Shift, 40 hours weekly

 

PAY SCALE:

$19.37 - $23.61 Hourly, DOE.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE:

  • Washington State Peer Counselor Certification Required. Must maintain certification requirements.
  • Washington State Department of Health Registered Agency Affiliated Counselor (RAAC) credential required.
  • Must be able to pass WA State Patrol background checks, may include national background check if have not lived in WA State consecutively the last three years.
  • Must be able to obtain clearance to Lewis County Jail.
  • Training in advocacy/support preferred.
  • Two years’ experience working in a social service setting preferred.
  • Must be able to work as part of a coordinated team.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must have satisfactory driving abstract.
  • Must maintain current home telephone and address on file with the personnel office.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

PEER COUNSELOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Draw on common experiences as a peer to validate clients experience and to provide guidance and encouragement for clients to take responsibility and participate in their own recovery.
  • Promote hope and empowerment designed to help clients attain recovery goals and maintain the highest possible level of independence, even during periods of instability.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and support in areas to include transition services from hospital or jail to community, supported companionship, money management, and medication management.
  • Provide additional coaching in the following areas as needed: personal hygiene, use of public transportation, employment, and social skills, and completion of household tasks including cooking, laundry, grocery shopping, and housekeeping.
  • Act as an interpreter to the rest of the team while providing expertise and consultation from a client perspective in areas such as symptoms, effects and side effects of medications, client opinions of treatment, and client experiences of recovery.
  • Participate in treatment coordination services.
  • Provide observed urine analysis (UA) on same sex clients
  • Fulfill functions of Navigator role, providing navigation services.
  • Assist clients with symptom management and psychiatric rehabilitation by using Motivational Interviewing and Trauma Informed Care approaches to intervene and motivate clients for change.
  • Educate and support clients families and advocate for client rights and preferences. Consult with families and community agencies such as DSHS, court systems, housing authorities, etc., as part of coordination in the treatment process.
  • Meet or exceed the productivity standards of your position.
  • Help clients and staff to identify, understand, and combat stigma and discrimination.
  • Collaborate with staff and clients on awareness of client rights, including grievance and complaint procedures; support clients with filing, mediating, and resolving complaints.
  • Able to maintain a non-judgmental attitude towards clients.
  • Meets direct service productivity requirements as assigned by the program manager/director.
  • Must maintain compliance with HIPAA and fulfill duty as a mandated reporter.
  • Must receive regular supervision from a Mental Health Professional

GRANT AND CONTRACT ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Track SUD data for reporting to various agencies and grant compliance, to include but not limited to: Substance Use, Age of First Use, Method of Use.
  • Submit reports to various agencies and grants based on their timelines: Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly.
  • Monthly Education on Narcan to the community
  • Ordering Narcan
  • Supporting local Prevention coalitions with Lewis County Social Services
  • Data tracking: CJTA (State reporting), Jail Reporting (Chief of LC Jail, SUD numbers) and HRSA/Choice Grant reporting.

  • Cascade covers the cost of Department of Health licensure renewals and other certification renewals that are required for you to do your job (DEA, CPR/BLS, etc.).
