Position: Cascade Buckle Up Coordinator

Salary: $17.88-$18.84 per hour DOE

Schedule: Full-time with Benefits

Education/Experience/Training:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Community Health Promotion, Social Sciences, Human Services related field two years of experience working in the Human Service field.

Certifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Montana

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision of the City-County Health Department (CCHD) Family Health Services Division Manager, the Buckle Up Coordinator (Coordinator) primarily performs and is responsible for the promotion, implementation, coordination and technical support of the Buckle Up Car Seat Program (Program) for the CCHD and Cascade County (County). This includes observing seat belt use in predetermined Great Falls and Cascade County locations, scheduling events to promote seat belt and car seat safety, providing community education and awareness of proper seatbelt use and proper car seat installation, educating parents and caregivers of proper child passenger safety and providing car seats at no cost for those eligible individuals who cannot otherwise afford a child safety seat. The Coordinator will also support and promote National Teen Driver Safety Week and Montan Tenn Driver Safety Day, track and report outreach and prevention activities, communicate effectively with the State Buckle-Up Montana liaison, initiate and develop key relationships between individuals and groups in the community related to the Program’s objectives and goals and ensure that all grant deliverables are met in a timely manner. The Coordinator will further engage and work with the Buckle Up Coalition by assisting with the creation of agendas and goal setting, and perform other duties as required or assigned. This is a grant funded position.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Promotion, implementation, coordination and technical support of the Program for the CCHD and Cascade County; Observes seat belt use in predetermined Great Falls and Cascade County locations and schedules events to promote seat belt and car seat safety; Provides community, agency and provider training, education and awareness of proper seatbelt use and proper car seat installation and use and education to parents and caregivers of proper child passenger safety; Provides car seats at no cost for those eligible individuals who cannot otherwise afford a child safety seat; Obtains and maintains certification as a Child Passenger Safety(CPS) Technician through the National Child Passenger Safety Certification Program; Supports and promotes National Teen Driver Safety Week and Montan Tenn Driver Safety Day; Tracks and reports outreach and prevention activities; Communicates effectively with the State Buckle-Up Montana liaison; Initiates and develops key relationships between individuals and groups in the community related to the Program’s objectives and goals and ensures that all grant deliverables are met in a timely manner; Engages in effective and professional customer service and public speaking; Checks and installs car seats for parents and caregivers of young children; Distributes outreach material to community partners; Distributes car seats to low-income caregivers of young children; Tracks car seat distribution and other program data as outlined in the Buckle Up Contract; In coordination with supervisor reapplies for the BUMT grant funding each year; Creates reports and provides information about program outcomes to supervisor and state agency; Assists in the planning and coordination of local Buckle Up Coalition meetings and goal setting; Works to maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals and community agencies; Works with individuals of varying and diverse backgrounds in a professional, respectful, courteous and non-judgmental manner; Represents CCHD at community events; Attends all required CCHD and State meetings; Assists with meeting grant related performance measures; Participates in specific data training; Performs duties efficiently and effectively; Follows agency and County policies and procedures; Adhere to and enforce HIPAA and maintain and enforce strict confidentiality and compliance with multiple privacy and security rules; Establishes and maintains productive and effective working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, leadership and staff from partnering agencies and the public; Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Knowledge and understanding of: Buckle Up Contract and related prevention activities; Program support and development; Data management systems and computer software; Community health and human service resources; Implementing required Program goals and measuring outcome data; Effectively organizing resources and establishing priorities; Modern office equipment, computers and software programs and video conferencing; Establishing effective working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, leadership, community partner and state agencies; Effective and professional public speaking and customer service; County and CCHD policies and procedures; CCHD programs; HIPAA and other Privacy and Security Rules; Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher and the internet; Department safety policies and procedures.

Ability to: Ensure compliance with federal and state confidentiality regulations; Evaluate programs according to prescribed standards; Proficiently operate a computer to manage data and complete required job duties; Interact with the public or other employees in a professional, respectful and courteous manner; Interact with challenging individuals and display sound judgment under stressful situations; Multi-task and maintain concentration during frequent interruptions; Maintain strict standards of confidentiality; Understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures, and instructions; Demonstrate high attention to detail; Occasionally travel for delivery of services in a four-county area and for state-wide trainings. Work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team; Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff and community agencies; Maintain good time management and organizational skills; Use proper sentence structure, punctuation, grammar and spelling; Work effectively with others; Communicate in a professional and effective manner with others both orally and in writing; Read, review, analyze, compile and comprehend material; Meet established timelines and/or deadlines; Remain flexible and handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines; Exercise sound judgment and decision-making skills within established standards, policies and procedures; Adapt to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, changes approach or method to best fit the situation; Deal with frequent change, delays and or unexpected events; Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with multiple privacy and security rules; Occasionally lift up to twenty (20) pounds; Observe required work hours and demonstrate punctuality; Observe established lines of authority; Identify problems that adversely affect the organization and its functions and offer positive suggestions for improvements. Demonstrate punctuality and observe established work hours; Accept responsibility and be self-motivated; Perform other duties as required or assigned.

The successful applicant shall serve a 6-month probationary period and will have a criminal background check conducted. The results thereof may disqualify the applicant from consideration for employment with the County.

This position is covered by and subject to the Collective Bargaining Agreement by and between Cascade County and Federation of the Cascade City County Health Department Local #7772 (MFPE).
