What are the responsibilities and job description for the Metrology Technician position at Cascade Engineering Services, Inc.?
The Metrology Technician utilizes appropriate manual and automated measurement procedures in parallel with the knowledge of measurement science, mathematics, physics, and electronics to test and calibrate measurement, and test equipment in variety of disciplines such as Dimensional, Mechanical, Environmental Chambers, and Time & Frequency to ensure measurement accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Calibrate inspection, measurement, and test equipment in Dimensional and Mechanical disciplines.
- Maintain calibration standards
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of precision equipment
- Collect, record, and summarize, data during calibration
- Identifying abnormalities, trends and/or predicting future values
- Identify equipment out-of-tolerance conditions and perform corrective action by adjustments, component replacement, correction factors, in accordance with Cascade policies and procedures
- Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2-3 years of Calibration/Metrology experience.
- Experience calibrating Temperature / RH, Pressure, Flow, Torque, Hand Tools, Mass, Scales, Thread Ring and Plug Gages, Gage Blocks, and pin gage calibration preferred. Experience using Pratt and Whitney Lab Master, or other LMU measurement units preferred.
- Must be able to perform general mathematical, statistical and algebraical functions
- Minimum AA degree, formal PMEL training, or equivalent
- Familiar with ANSI/NCSL Z540.1, Z540.3 and ISO 17025 quality systems preferred.
- Must possess very good written and oral, communication skills
- Intermediate ability to troubleshoot repair, align and optimize precision equipment
- Computer skills such as use of MS Word, Outlook and Excel.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance
- Occasional standing and bending are required
Working Environment
- Works primarily in an engineering laboratory or manufacturing environment at Cascade and/or customer sites
- Occasional in state travel required
