About Us
At Cascade Home, a short-term residential treatment center, we help adolescent girls struggling with severe anxiety embrace life with courage and joy. We work with girls from 13-18 years old to achieve their goals and learn how to move through the challenges of debilitating anxiety. We believe each girl has unique causes of anxiety including her genetics/physical health, life experiences, patterns of thinking, distress tolerance levels, and ability to navigate relationships. Our treatment team addresses every one of these areas in a personalized plan. Our Home is intentionally kept small, a limit of 8 girls, and located in Heber, Utah.
We are looking for a part time advisor to assist our students with their learning. The academic advisor works with the Academic Director to individualize each student’s learning experience. A Utah (or other state) professional or associate educator license, or experience as a counselor, paraprofessional, or classroom aide is preferred. The academic advisor is informed about students’ treatment plan instructions and goals, and is expected to act as a role model of healthy behaviors. Ability or interest in teaching an in-person class to students is highly preferred!
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical assistance and check-ins for students enrolled in online classes
- Monitoring student activity online
- Enroll students in online classes
- Keeping track of student progress in classes, and helping support them with assignments as needed.
- Being an executive function coach for students: help them learn skills around time management, planning, focus, problem solving, etc.
- Requesting transcripts, IEPs, and 504 plans from schools
- Requesting graduation plans and reviewing with students
- Compiling bi-weekly progress reports and sending them to parents
- Answering emails from parents in a timely manner
- Be a point of contact for staff when they have questions about what students should be doing
- Provide technical assistance as appropriate
- Help monitor students’ online activity and help them stay on task
- Teaching an in-person class and keep track of students’ grades and attendance
- Other duties as assigned by the Academic Director
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Comfortable working with students of different abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and therapists
- Great interpersonal skills
- Ability to be flexible
- Highly organized
- Prior experience working in a classroom or school setting preferred
- Prior experience working with adolescents
