Responsibilities
The Accounting Supervisor, examines, and analyzes accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. Calculates and processes various journal entries and reconciles several general ledger accounts. Helps with quarterly and annual accounting reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and analyze monthly GAAP financial reports and prepare budget variance analysis. *
Respond to owners, inventors, and agency inquiries and requests. *
Help Corporate Controller to maintain the integrity and security of financial records by enforcing established accounting policies and internal control procedures. *
Help with year-end closings which include preparation of annual financial statement packages with outside CPA’s and posting audit adjustments. *
Assist with monthly back activities, including setting up new accounts, ordering deposit books, writing up bank transfers, and reconciling bank accounts. *
Assist with quarterly and annual accounting reports to owners, investors, and regulators. *
Assist with calculating or approving management fees to charge clients. *
Assist in training and mentoring Accountants and Accounting Assistants. *
Assist with monthly mortgage processing.
Reconcile several general ledger accounts.
Calculate and process various journal entries.
Make recommendations to the Corporate Controller for improvement of department policies procedures and practices.
Work closely with Controller, IT and Resman Conversion Team to provide accounting data to be converted to Resman. *
Work closely with Controller to Review data in Resman prior to properties going “live” to ensure accuracy of data. *
Work with Portfolio Managers, Accounts, Rent Journalist, and site managers to ensure Resman is functioning properly after conversion and provide assistance as needed. *

Education and/or Education
Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S) in accounting with four (4) years of practical accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphics.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
A Valid Driver’s License and insurance is required.
Other Qualifications
Ability to operate basic office equipment such as telephones, keyboards, 10 key, photocopier, and fax machine. Experience with MS Office and Sage 100.
