POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of the behavior support teacher is to provide direct service to students and supervision of instructional assistants in following individualized educational programs (IEP) and behavioral support plans (BSP) for students with challenging behavior directly related to their disabilities. Position requires collaboration with related service providers and ongoing communication with parents.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Appropriate TSPC license and certification in special education.
- Prior work experience and/or practicum experience with students with behaviors/emotional disabilities.
- Ability to supervise assistants.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in performing assigned tasks.
- Ability to prepare educational and behavioral plans based upon formative assessment and diagnostic testing.
- Ability to perform the essential functions with the physical, mental and emotional requirements, with or without accommodations.
- Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents and staff.
- Such alternatives to the qualifications as the Board and Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
