JOB DESCRIPTION
The Payroll Accountant is responsible for maintaining compliance with state wage and hour compliance laws. This includes staying up to date with new laws as well as processing state and federal reports and taxes timely and accurately.
Essential Duties
- Must reconcile bi-weekly, monthly & quarterly payroll reports & deposits.
- Close monthly, QTR & year processing of all State, Federal, quarterly & annual reports.
- Balance payroll accruals accounts monthly to make sure charges from vendors are being deducted from employees timely & accurately.
- Process garnishments and child support orders in accordance with Washington state law.
- Monitor & manage multiple timekeeping systems.
- Process & balance all payroll contributions to H S A and 401(k)
- Monitor & manage 401(k) correspondence and required information distributions
- Prepare journal entries for payroll and posting in our ERP system (Netsuite)
- Use Excel to track and calculate sales commissions.
- Assist with US Census reporting.
- Assist with fiscal year end providing a variety of reports to accounting.
- Assist with credit card reconciliation.
- Backup for processing multi-company, multi-state payroll & reporting within strict & limited timelines
- Any other duties assigned at any given time.
Location: Union Gap, WA
Job Type: Full-time/Non-exempt
Shift: Monday -Thursday 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM; Friday 7:30 – 11:30 AM
Must be able to work overtime & weekends, as needed, based on business needs.
Requirements:Minimum Qualifications/Skills required
- Must have a minimum of 5 years payroll experience or bookkeeping including calculation of all payroll taxes.
- Must have knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel & Access.
- Must have efficient 10 key & accurate data entry.
- Must be able to correspond & communicate well with others.
- Must have good phone skills.
- Capable of learning payroll software programs geared to the company.
- Must be detail oriented.

- Must have the ability to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to handle interruptions.
- Must be able to sit at a desk and use a computer for long periods at a time.
- Must be able to use office equipment necessary to perform any job function.
