Position TEAP Specialist (Trainee Employee Assistance Program)

Primary Position Objectives
The TEAP Specialist oversees creating and managing the substance use prevention program which focuses on teaching young people employability skills. The program must emphasize prevention, education, identification of substance use problems, relapse prevention, and supportive services to enhance students’ health, well-being, and access to quality employment. The guidelines for this program are outlined in the Job Corps Policy and Requirements Handbook (PRH).
Brief Description of Duties Administration Procedures
- Must possess current state Drug and Alcohol Counselor certification/licensure
- Participate in applicant file review as requested by the Health and Wellness Director to ensure needs and resources for students with substance use issues are identified before enrollment
- Review new student Social Intake Form (SIF) to determine TEAP counseling needs and coordinate with counseling and wellness staff to provide intervention services as needed
- Provide an interactive presentation on substance use prevention for all new students during the first two weeks of arrival
- Conduct and maintain the drug and alcohol testing program on Center, and manage all positive and negative results as directed by the PRH
- Create and implement intervention plans and document all meetings within the Student Health Record
- Present education and information in the framework of overcoming barriers to employability
- Create and conduct training on substance use-related issues for students and staff
- Collaborate with various staff members to promote and provide a drug-free campus
- Collaborate with other members of the Wellness team to ensure the intervention program is fully understood and integrated on Center and all staff can support the plan
- Conduct regular group and individual sessions with any student interested in the TEAP program
- Create a plan for off-Center referrals as it relates to specialized or ongoing treatment for students in need of substance use treatment
- Create and maintain partnerships within the community that may provide no-cost services, education, and presentations that relate to substance use prevention
- Assist in developing Center policies and operating procedures related to substance use testing and intervention
- Assist in compiling quarterly report for submission to the National Health Service
- Schedule and conduct at least three annual center-wide substance use prevention and education activities
- Collaborate with the Center Mental Health Consultant to determine when a student needs to be medically separated (MSWR) from the program as it relates to substance use conditions
- Work toward meeting performance standards goals; Follow the CDSS plan and Standards of Conduct system
- Adhere to required property control policies and procedures; Maintain good housekeeping in all areas and comply with safety practices
- Model, mentor, monitor appropriate Career Success Standards; Help students become more employable through continuous reinforcement
- Demonstrate and abide by LifeSkills Connection’s core values and operating principles
- Comply with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulation, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), LifeSkills Connection’s policies and procedures, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures
- Participate in PRH mandated staff training; Failure to participate may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination
- Perform other duties as assigned

Education Must possess current Drug and Alcohol Counselor certification
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Must be certified, licensed, or accredited in state of employment. Valid State Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
