What are the responsibilities and job description for the Med Tech position at Cascades of Tucson?
DEFINITION AND ROLE :
The Medication Technician is responsible for providing medication services according to written directions prepared by a Physician and under the supervision of a Nurse. This position requires the knowledge, ability, qualifications, and skills to provide medication administration assistance within the scope of services of the facility, meet resident needs, and ensure the safety and health of a resident. A Medication Technician must be 18 years of age or older, meet the training requirements in 706 B4, and have a minimum of three months of health-related experience preferably in a similar setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :
- Assumes cheerful and positive attitude while providing care services, rehabilitative and supportive services as assigned by the Nurse and necessary to provide competent care.
- Engages in conversation with residents that is neither personal nor controversial in nature.
- Respects confidentiality of both the resident and the Cascades.
- Assists residents with administration or self-administration of medications as directed by physician’s orders and per facility policy and procedure.
Assist in the self-administration of daily medications, either prescription on non-prescription.
Any knowledge that a Cascades associate accepts compensation or private employment from resident / family / caregiver
