Job Summary
The Vice President, Head of Market Access is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the strategic development and execution of market access initiatives for Arcutis' product portfolio. This includes shaping and overseeing the market access strategy to ensure that new and existing therapies reach the right patients at the right time, through appropriate channels, and at the right price. The role combines strategic thinking, leadership, and a deep understanding of healthcare systems, reimbursement processes, payer policies, pricing, and stakeholder management.
Roles & Responsibilities
Market Access Strategy Development & Execution
- Develop and lead the company's market access team and strategy to ensure optimal reimbursement for the product portfolio across all relevant geographies and payer environments.
- Align market access strategies with the broader commercial objectives of the company, including pricing, market positioning, and lifecycle management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of the market access strategy across all stages of product development and commercialization.
Contracts and Pricing and Payer Relations
Cultivate strong relationships with key payers, insurance companies, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure timely market access for products.Manage contracts and pricing team and oversee the negotiation and management of reimbursement terms, pricing, and formulary placements to secure favorable access for products in diverse healthcare markets.Ensure compliance with local, regional, and global pricing and reimbursement regulations.Health Economics and Outcomes Research
Oversee the integration of health economics data, clinical outcomes, and real-world evidence into pricing and market access strategies to demonstrate the value proposition of products to payers.Collaborate with clinical development, medical affairs, and commercial teams to produce robust health economics models, budget impact analyses, and other tools necessary for payer negotiations.Market Access and Policy Landscape Monitoring
Monitor and analyze global, regional, and national healthcare policy trends, reimbursement changes, and payer decision-making processes.Advise senior leadership on potential risks and opportunities resulting from market access and policy changes, ensuring proactive strategy adjustments.Engage in industry associations, policy forums, and advocacy groups to influence policies that support access to innovative biopharmaceutical therapies.Leadership and Team Management
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of market access professionals across multiple disciplines.Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence within the market access team.Provide strategic direction, set clear performance expectations, and ensure the team's alignment with company goals and priorities.Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate closely with senior leadership, commercial, medical affairs, regulatory affairs, and R&D teams to ensure alignment and integration of market access priorities throughout the product lifecycle.Partner with marketing, sales, and commercial operations teams to develop effective product access strategies and communication tools.Data-Driven Decision Making
Use data analytics and market research to continuously assess the effectiveness of market access strategies, adjusting plans to optimize product access and reimbursement.Lead the development of metrics and KPIs to track and report the success of market access initiatives.Other duties that may be assigned.REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Education & Licenses and Experience
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in business, life sciences or a related field and 15 or more years of related experience. An advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, PhD) is preferred.Competencies & Skills
Proven track record of developing and executing market access strategies for global pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical products.Extensive experience in payer negotiations, pricing strategies, and reimbursement processes in diverse markets (e.g., US, EU, emerging markets).Strong network of relationships with key stakeholders including payers, regulators, policymakers, and thought leaders in the healthcare system.Deep knowledge of global healthcare systems, payer dynamics, pricing and reimbursement processes, and health technology assessments (HTA).Strong leadership and team-building skills with a focus on mentoring and developing talent.Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and external partners.Analytical and strategic thinker with a data-driven approach to decision-making.Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving biopharmaceutical environment.Proficient in the use of business productivity software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
