Cascia Hall Library Media Specialist
Cascia Hall’s full-time Library Media Specialist plays a pivotal role in fostering an appreciation of reading and promoting information literacy among students and faculty. This position is responsible for managing the library media program in alignment with the school's mission while also integrating technology into the learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a library media program that supports the educational mission of the school.
- Foster a culture of reading for pleasure and information and promote engagement with various media formats.
- Curate and maintain a diverse collection of materials that represent a wide range of perspectives and formats to serve patrons in grades 6-12 as well as adult faculty and staff.
- Create a welcoming and information-rich environment that encourages curiosity and learning among students and faculty.
- Collaborate with the school’s IT director to ensure seamless technology integration in library and whole-school services. This will include serving on the school’s technology committee.
- Work with the school's IT director to manage technology resources and physical inventory.
- Facilitate library operations including scheduling, cataloging, inventory management, and special projects. This includes managing the library’s Follett Destiny online public access catalog and the LMC page on the Cascia website and the LMC Resource links to the school’s specialized subscription services on myCascia.
- Prepare and administer the library media center budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Guide students in locating, accessing, and evaluating information both in our library and in the larger world, including creating customized presentations to help our students use resources for specific research projects.
- Model effective use of digital and print resources in lessons, differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Stay current on the best practices in teaching and learning and the technological advancements in library science.
- Communicate new learning and resources to faculty during professional development days and special workshops and to parents as a part of Cascia Parent and Family Association meetings.
- Participate in curriculum development and integration, collaborating with faculty to enhance instructional strategies.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all library media center equipment and assist patrons with usage.
- Establishes, maintains, and supervises an environment in the LMC that encourages patrons to work productively during both class time and non-class time from 7:30 A.M. -3:30 P.M.
- Oversee the school archives, including developing and managing the budget, ordering archival supplies, acquiring, evaluating, describing, processing, preserving, and organizing archival materials and facility.
- Answering reference questions and assisting with projects utilizing archival materials.
Candidate Qualifications
Education and Certification: School Library Media Specialist Certification from the Oklahoma State Department of Education. A Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science is preferred.
Experience:
- Previous library experience is required, and school library management experience with grades 6-12 is preferred.
- Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, and Acrobat as well as Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite is necessary.
- Expertise in Follett Destiny Library System is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
