Job Summary
Our patient care coordinators are our first point of contact for our patients by greeting them on the phone and in person, gathering information, entering services, and posting payments.
Essential Job Functions
- Answers and directs all incoming phone calls, directs appropriately or takes a detailed message.
- Schedules and confirms patient appointments.
- Obtains and accurately updates all patents’ demographic and insurance information electronically.
- Responds to telephone emergency calls and triages according to established procedures.
- Provides insurance information and education to patients and other office staff to aid in compliance with requirements of third party payers.
- Prepares for daily flow and interactions between patients and doctors in accordance with daily check list.
- Accurately posts charges and payments on computer systems.
- Acts as a resource to staff and doctors regarding patient/customer care and services issues.
- Maintains and monitors office supplies.
- Dispenses contact lenses to patients, including related products and information.
- Distributes daily incoming mail and process outgoing mail.
- Maintains an excellent rapport with patients/customers, staff, other offices, management and doctors.
- Participates in coverage and training of other Patient Care Coordinators within this existing office, as well as other offices.
- Supports doctors in overall delivery of quality eye care services in order to ensure excellent patient care, customer services and continued practice growth.
Other Duties & Responsibilities
- Participates in professional development opportunities.
- Performs other job-related duties and assignments and participates in special projects when needed.
- Contributes to the goals, objectives and overall success of daily operation and business as a whole.
Working Conditions/Physical/Mental Demands
Physical surroundings are that of a typical office & patient care facility; generally pleasant and comfortable with minimal exposure to injury or other hazards. Minimal physical effort required; normally seated with the freedom of movement on a regular basis, handling of light materials. Travel to other locations as needed and/or required by essential job functions.
