Job Summary
To direct the financial affairs of the Credit Union, ensuring they are accurate and in compliance with GAAP, NCUA, and the credit union accounting practices. This role will establish economic and financial objectives and policies for the Credit Union by adhering to asset and liability management and be the main point of contact for financial audits and regulatory exams.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Oversee data processing and accounting department.
- Ensure security and soundness of all credit union financial records, reviewing all general ledger accounts and subsidiaries monthly to ensure proper balancing.
- Prepares financial reports; ensures complete and accurate financial, statistical, and accounting records of the Credit Union.
- Formulates and executes ALM policy; prepares financial forecasts utilizing Brick Inc. ALM Software.
- Writes, reviews, and distributes policy and procedure statements to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Lead annual financial audits and regulatory exams.
- Assist management in accounting-related activities and budget preparation.
- Record and balance investment accounts.
- Prepare accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting, including Call Report.
- Assist in other areas as directed.
Expectations, Experience and Qualifications:
The successful candidate will embrace a collaborative management style and be passionate about being part of a team. This person must possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills and possess a strong member-centric philosophy. Applicants should have 3-5 years of related experience including a degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting. Knowledge of GAAP and credit union accounting procedures and reporting are required, and the candidate must be skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
Strong supervisory, technology, compliance, and leadership skills are also desired. Candidates must demonstrate strong attention to detail, ability to work with minimal supervision, and be organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
