OVERVIEW ::
Provide leadership, direction and execution of all plant food safety and quality functions to support Case Farms’ Quality/Food safety goals and ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies. To ensure all products produced meet or exceed all customer, regulatory and company requirements as they relate to food safety. Directs the plant Quality Assurance Department in selecting, developing, and motivating team members to achieve organizational goals. Will act as plant authority on quality matters and work in conjunction with Operations staff to ensure product quality and safety is always maintained. Position requires some cross functional skills and must assist the QA Supervisors in decision making and growth. All other tasks provided by supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS ::
- Manages all activities of the Quality Assurance Department in a manner which results in consistent product quality and safety results as measured through the company matrix, customer specifications and regulatory mandates.
- Develop, document, and implement Quality processes/procedures to ensure product safety and quality is always monitored and maintained.
- Lead all Quality, Food Safety and Regulatory efforts at the plant.
- Enforces Case Farms food safety standards as outlined in the plants HACCP, LCP (if applicable), Salmonella/Campy Standards and other programs, maintain the required documentation to verify compliance.
- Is the catalyst for leading continuous improvement through technology and scientific research in an effort to take the plants quality program(s) to the next level.
- Provide leadership and be an active member of all project teams to ensure product quality and food safety concerns are addressed at assigned plants.
- Maintain open communications with Corporate QA, Plant Management, Sales and Marketing staffs to ensure each are aware of any potential quality or food safety related concerns with product or product requirements/specifications.
- Develop a professional working relationship and act as a plant liaison with USDA staff.
- Develop staff through appropriate mentoring and continuing education efforts. Ensure Case Farms Quality programs are properly communicated, and plant employees have a working knowledge of the programs through training and mentoring.
- Provide timely, accurate and relevant data and analysis to plant and corporate management.
- BS Degree or higher in the area of Poultry, Meat, or Food Science.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a HACCP, QA or Food Safety supervisory role.
- Good analytical and communication (both oral and written) skills.
- Experience in further processing required.
- Must have or complete certification status as Certified Food Safety Manager or equivalent within 12 months.
- Knowledge of Poultry/Food Processing principles.
- Understanding of management principles and team concepts.
- General knowledge of plant functions – production, maintenance, warehouse, shipping and sanitation.
- HACCP Certified and very strong HACCP and regulatory skills.

- May be exposed to noise up to 110 db.
- May be exposed to chemicals used in the processing facility.
- Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the position as directed by Case Farms.
- Able to stand or freely move for the duration of shift.
- When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
- May be exposed to temperatures below 28 degrees and up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
