What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Superintendent - 3rd Shift position at Case Farms, LLC?
Provide leadership, direction, and execution to all plant Quality Assurance functions to support Case Farms continuous focus on product quality. To ensure all products meet or exceed customer, regulatory and company requirements as they relate to product quality and food safety. Will act as plant authority on all quality matters and work in conjunction with the Complex QA/FS Manager and staff to ensure product safety and quality are always maintained. Position requires some cross functional skills with HACCP Manager. This position will assist QA Supervisors in decision making and provide training and leadership for the QA Department.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS :
- Manages all activities of the Quality Assurance Department in a manner which results in consistent results as measured through the company matrix and customer satisfaction.
- Help develop, document, and implement quality measurements and procedures to ensure product quality is always monitored and maintained. Ensure current and future product specifications and programs are manageable in the plant environment and provide operational support to ensure ALL programs are successful.
- Lead all Quality initiatives at the plant.
- Enforces Case Farms food safety and quality standards as outlined in the plant’s food safety programs and product specifications. Help maintain all required documentation.
- Is the catalyst for leading continuous improvement through technology while leading the department to the next level.
- Provide leadership and be an active member of all project teams to ensure product quality needs and requirements remains a focus in the project decision making process.
- Maintain open communications with Corporate QA, plant management, and sales and marketing staff to ensure each are aware of any potential quality concerns with product or product requirements/specifications.
- Develop a professional working relationship and act as a plant liaison with USDA staff.
- Ensure Case Farms Quality Assurance programs are properly communicated, and plant employees have a working knowledge of the programs through training and mentoring.
- Provide timely, accurate and relevant data and analysis to plant and corporate management.
- All other tasks provided by supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS :
- BS Degree or higher in poultry, animal, or food science. Other degrees will be considered with relevant work experience.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills (both oral and written).
- Understanding of management principles and team concepts.
- General knowledge of plant functions – production, maintenance, warehouse, shipping, sanitation and GFSI concepts.
- Must be a team player and understand how to develop in-depth programs which are operationally functionable while providing protection to the organization and consumers.
PREFERRED:
- Previous experience as a QA Supervisor in a poultry processing environment.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a HACCP, QA or food safety supervisory role preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

- Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
- May be exposed to temperatures below 28 degrees or up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
- May handle product at temperatures as low as 25 degrees Fahrenheit.
- May be exposed to noise ranges of up to 110 db.
- Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
- Must handle the weight of 8 to 10 lbs repetitively, occasionally lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 70 lbs.
- Exposure to dust, feathers, and chemicals used in the poultry processing facility.
