Schedule: Monday through Friday, Day Shift
Salary Range: Commensurate on experience with incentive bonus opportunities
Job Summary
The Operations Planner manages the organization's materials, labor, and production planning to achieve optimal business outcomes. This role involves working collaboratively within and across departments to ensure that materials and production goals are achieved timely, accurately, and efficiently. The Operations Planner is also responsible for workforce planning, scheduling, and communication with staffing agencies to support workforce needs—strong systems knowledge in ERP, warehouse management, BOM management, job processing, and inventory control. Top candidates will be highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Manage materials planning, coordinating with CSRs for customer-supplied materials and the Procurement Lead for CM-purchased materials.
· Oversee customer-supplied materials from start to finish for complex customers, including regular interaction and meetings.
· Collaborate with the Procurement Lead on production planning and short-term scheduling.
· Complete and report production cost analysis, comparing to quotation assumptions.
· Champion production efficiency improvements by identifying bottlenecks, potential automation, and implementing solutions.
· Work with CSRs to ensure customers provide ample lead-time for materials and production planning.
· Manage the process to resolve obsolete and slow inventory with customers.
· Plan and coordinate daily temporary labor staff with staffing agencies, providing a rolling 2 to 3 week forecast.
· Provide support across Operations as needed.
· Follow and enforce company policies and procedures.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Education, License, Certification, and/or Work Experience Requirements:
· High School Diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
· Cost accounting and/ or manufacturing operations experience is a plus.
· Previous experience in Production and Material Planning required.
· Previous supervisory experience preferred, but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Strong systems knowledge in ERP, warehouse management, BOM management, job processing, and inventory control.
· Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
· Strong communication skills and ability to lead by example.
· Ability to analyze production costs to assess margins by customer and product.
· Ability to plan material supply, space, labor production, and dependent demand.
· MRP/purchasing systems knowledge.
· Ability to analyze production lines, identify and solve issues, and document cost-effective setups.
· Flexibility and willingness to complete additional plant duties as needed.
· Problem-solving skills with the ability to predict potential outcomes and have backup plans.
· Effective interaction with customers, suppliers, and employees.
· Ability to properly wear PPE as required by the position.
