Material Handler - Skids and Rolls - SWING SHIFT

Job Summary:

The Material Handler - Skids and Rolls ensures the timely and accurate handling of materials within the warehouse. This includes loading, unloading, sorting, and moving skids (pallets) of goods and rolls, using various equipment. The handler plays a crucial role in maintaining the warehouse's organization and supports shipping, receiving, and inventory processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Material Handling:

  • Load and unload skids from trucks or trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment.
  • Move skids of materials within the warehouse to designated storage locations.
  • Load and unload rolls using clamp trucks or other equipment.
  • Ensure materials are stacked and stored safely and securely to prevent damage or accidents.

• Shipping and Receiving:

  • Assist in preparing shipments by picking, packing, and palletizing products onto skids.
  • Verify incoming shipments, checking for accuracy in the type and quantity of items.
  • Document and label received or shipped materials correctly.

• Warehouse Equipment Operation:

  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, clamp trucks, and other warehouse equipment to move materials.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and report any maintenance needs.
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while operating machinery.

• Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other warehouse personnel, such as shipping and receiving clerks and warehouse supervisors, to ensure the efficient flow of materials.
  • Support other team members during peak times or high-volume periods.

• General Warehouse Duties:

  • Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and free from obstructions.
  • Dispose of waste and recycling in designated areas.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety standards at all times.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in warehouse operations or material handling preferred.
• Forklift certification - a plus. Forklift experience required.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs or more).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Bilingual - English and Spanish speaking - a plus.
