The Department of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for a permanent faculty position in Environmental Earth Sciences at the rank of Instructor (non-tenure track). We seek candidates with a broad background in the geosciences who will be dedicated to teaching and service in the department. Candidates must be committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching, mentoring, and service. The successful candidate will teach a two-course per semester load of introductory and upper-level courses in the department’s geoscience and environmental studies programs, primarily courses that emphasize environmental and climate topics, and contribute to mentoring senior capstone projects. Expected service roles within the department include committee assignments, undergraduate academic advising, educational program assessment, interdisciplinary program support and development, and departmental outreach efforts.
Qualifications
The position requires a PhD degree in the geosciences and a record of excellence in teaching, mentoring and academic service. Expertise that complements existing faculty expertise and strengthens the department’s ability to offer environmental and climate coursework is desirable. Experience with a variety of teaching methods, curricular perspectives, outreach efforts, and inclusive interactions with members of underrepresented communities are considered assets.
