Job Description
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Working under limited supervision, the Recruitment Specialist will recruit qualified students to meet or exceed target enrollments in the MN, MSN, DNP and PhD programs for the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing and also provide assistance in the BSN recruitment process. The specialist will conduct and coordinate activities to convert inquiries to applications, applications to acceptances, and acceptances to admitted enrollment. The recruitment specialist will serve as the primary point of contract for students and guide them through the application process. The specialist will support the department's service excellence philosophy and collaborate as a team member and/or leader as appropriate.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Represent and promote the School of Nursing at selected local, regional and national recruitment programs. Identify potential recruitment venues such as graduate school career fairs, exhibits at national professional organizational meetings and job fairs sponsored by potential employers, community groups etc. Recommend appropriate venues based on analysis of potential market for recruitment through a variety of sources. Register for conferences and events. Organize travel details (flights, rental cars, etc.). Upon return of travel, organize, detail and submit travel expense forms/receipts. Maintain responsibility and timeliness of payment of T&E card privileges. (30%)
- In collaboration with the Director of Enrollment and Recruitment, Associated Dean for Academic Affairs and the program directors, develop a recruitment plan to meet established target for new student enrollments in the MN, MSN, DNP, and PhD programs. Meet stated enrollment goals from inquiry to attendance and enrollment. Monitor the school website on an ongoing basis to confirm recruitment materials and program requirements reflect curricular and program changes by faculty. Research and stay up to date with nursing profession changes including being able to explain the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing academic options and degrees. Track and follow-up using Slate and internal database system. Develop and submit weekly electronic reports outlining recruitment activities, e.g. phone, email contacts, and follow-up. Modify as necessary. Analyze outcome/data to determine future activities. Design and implement follow-up activities to convert admissions to enrolled graduate students such as arranging campus visits, meetings with faculty, and student to student mentoring programs. Recommend revisions to plan based on collected/analyzed data. On a daily basis, maintain Slate with current inquiries with progress of follow-up activities. Using best practices based on evidence, develop and implement mentorship program for students in the BSN and DNP/Graduate Entry programs. Provide mentoring for mentors. (30%)
- Actively recruit perspective students by reaching out via phone on a routine basis. Provide excellent customer service with prospective students, staff, and faculty through phone, email and in-person interactions. Perform ongoing follow-up for all inquiries/applicants/acceptances into program including phone calls, emails and visits. Identify inquiry/applicant need for specific information and make appropriate referral. Meet with prospective candidates. Perform initial assessment of career and major goals. (25%)
- Identify, research and recommend appropriate advertising media and recruitment initiatives. Create and monitor social media account for recruitment approaches and utilize as a method of recruitment and communication. Evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment activities using the target enrollment goals. Plan/organize visit days and other on campus recruitment events. Order food, reserve rooms, etc. (10%)
NONESSENTIAL FUNCITONS
- Work collaboratively with University Marketing and Communications and the University Slate Team for recruitment strategies. Attend University Slate Meetings for essential upkeep of SLATE. (5%)
- Assist with other school activities and special projects as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. (<1%)

Department: Daily contact with the Director of Enrollment and Recruitment and other staff, program directors and faculty (continuous) (Purpose: communicate to complete projects and work with faculty for student recruitment, admissions decisions)
University: Contact with the School of Graduate Studies, Purchasing and Undergraduate Admission, University Marketing and Communication, SLATE Team (frequent) (Purpose: complete projects for marketing and SLATE, phd recruitment for grad studies)
External: Daily contact with nurses, potential students, high school and university counselors, parents, community organizations, healthcare organizations and professional organizations (continuous) (Purpose: Recruit students, establish relationships, communicate for contacts)
Students: Daily contact with students (regular) (Purpose: Engagement with current students to help with recruitment)

QUALIFICAITONS
Experience/Education: Bachelor's degree and 2 to 3 years of related experience or High School education and 6 years of experience required. Direct recruitment and student services responsibilities with a track record of success preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering persuasive presentations preferred.
- Preparation in managing diversity preferred.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills: ability to work with educationally, geographically and ethnically diverse groups of people.
- High level of independence and collaboration necessary.
- Computer and analytic skills required.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Fluctuating schedule based on recruitment cycle. Position requires frequent travel (up to 50% of the time). Will be required to have reliable form of transportation.
Hybrid Eligibility
This position is eligible for hybrid work arrangement up to two remote days per week at the discretion of the department. New employees may begin a hybrid schedule upon approval from the supervisor, successful completion of an orientation period and signing the remote work checklist certification form.
