POSITION OBJECTIVEWorking under limited supervision, the Program Manager will ensure that a quality Research and Scholarship curriculum is delivered to all Case Western Reserve University medical students. The Program Manager is responsible for the smooth implementation of the Research and Scholarship curriculum for medical students. The manager is the full time contact for students and preceptors while working closely with faculty in research settings. The Program Manager is responsible for the Office of Medical Student Research budget, and for managing its data on student opportunities, faculty involvement, and student outcomes, both during medical school and among alumni.The Research and Scholarship Program includes both the required research coursework and experience in the pre-clinical years, as well as optional experiences including research elective or research extension years. The Case Western Reserve University curriculum is dedicated to providing an integrated, developmental program of clinical and basic science education. Early research exposure and progressive opportunities to engage in research and scholarship are critical components of this curriculum.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSManage and oversee the administration of student assessment outcomes. Collaborate with the assessment team and key faculty to strategically design and implement assessments within the LMS, ensuring alignment with academic objectives. Proactively monitor student progression and ensure timely completion of assessments by setting up streamlined processes for tracking and intervention. (20%)Lead the development and maintenance of a comprehensive interactive database with multifaceted capabilities for students, faculty, and office use. This database will manage information on mentorship opportunities, funding sources, and student achievements. Leverage data analytics to prepare strategic reports for SOM leadership on student accomplishments and trends before and after graduation. (20%)Lead communications on late or missing assignments to the School of Medicine leadership and key stakeholders, providing data-driven insights and recommendations for action. Assign grading responsibilities to faculty, ensuring grading timeliness and accuracy. Implement solutions for delays by coordinating substitute graders when necessary. Engage in continuous improvement efforts by identifying systemic issues and recommending innovative solutions to enhance the assessment process. Report outcomes and strategic recommendations to the leadership for decision-making. (10%)Oversee the planning, promotion, and execution of SOM Graduate and Medical Student Research Day, working closely with faculty and student committees. Lead budget management and ensure the event aligns with institutional goals and resource allocations.
