Job Description
Casella Waste Systems, Inc. is seeking a dedicated CDL Driver Apprentice to join our team. As a CDL Driver Apprentice, you will be responsible for obtaining a Commercial Driving Permit and completing the required CDL instruction and training to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle providing service to customers in their respective line of business while working alongside a knowledgeable Casella Waste Driver and/or Casella Waste Driver Trainer.
Responsibilities and Expectations
• Perform daily pre/post trip inspections of assigned vehicles, ensuring all safety equipment and devices are operational and secured properly in the vehicle.
• Safely operate commercial motor vehicles, including roll rear load, front load, side load, and roll off trucks, on streets, highways, customer sites, and construction sites.
• Develop a keen sense of awareness and situational awareness when operating the vehicle and interacting with coworkers and the public.
• Maintain open and clear communication with Dispatch regarding any customer requests, service interruptions, incidents, accidents, property damage, or unsafe situations.
• Actively participate in scheduled training programs and meetings as required by Casella or Manager.
Requirements and Qualifications
• Hold a valid state-issued standard CDL Drivers Class B permit with air brake endorsement or have the ability to obtain one within 6 months.
• Possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and effective problem-solving abilities.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.
