Our portfolio includes Casa Cody in the heart of iconic Palm Springs, The Pearl Hotel in San Diego, Hotel Marina Riviera in Big Bear Lake, as well as The Surfrider in Malibu. Coming later this year, we will open Hotel Willa in Taos, New Mexico, and Hotel Lucille in the heart of Los Angeles in the neighborhood of Silverlake. A project in upstate New York in the town of Hudson kicks off this summer. The portfolio is expanding at an intentional yet fast pace.
Reporting to: Hotel Manager / Maintenance Supervisor
Summary of Position:The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the hotel’s exterior areas, including landscaping, gardens, walkways, and outdoor amenities. This role ensures the property remains visually appealing, safe, and well-kept for guests and staff. The Groundskeeper will perform regular maintenance duties, seasonal landscaping, and minor repair work to maintain the overall cleanliness and functionality of the hotel's outdoor spaces.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the hotel’s grounds, including landscaping, gardens, walkways, patios, and parking areas.
- Perform routine lawn care, including mowing, trimming, edging, watering, and weeding.
- Care for plants, trees, and flowers by pruning, fertilizing, and ensuring proper irrigation.
- Remove debris, leaves, and litter from outdoor areas to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
- Monitor and maintain outdoor lighting, signage, and pathways for safety and aesthetic appeal.
- Conduct minor repairs to fencing, outdoor furniture, and irrigation systems.
- Assist with seasonal maintenance tasks, such as snow removal, leaf collection, or storm preparation.
- Ensure all landscaping tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
- Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the Maintenance Supervisor or General Manager.
- Support special events or outdoor activities by ensuring proper setup and cleanliness.
- Comply with all hotel policies and safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Prior experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or a similar maintenance role preferred.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in an outdoor environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, presentable property.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Knowledge of basic tools and minor repair work.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with the maintenance and housekeeping teams.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move heavy objects as required.
- Exposure to outdoor elements, including varying weather conditions.
- Capability to operate lawn care machinery safely.
