We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Assembly and Fabrication Technician to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to the production and repair of electrical and mechanical systems by performing a variety of tasks. These include reading schematics, assembling components, and fabricating custom solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret schematics and technical drawings to determine required components and materials.
- Select and retrieve necessary parts from inventory and prepare them for use.
- Clean components using parts washers or glass bead cabinets.
- Paint components and assemblies as needed.
- Replace worn or damaged parts, such as contact tips, with new or refurbished ones.
- Fabricate, drill, tap, and paint cabinets to house components effectively.
- Construct control boards and mount components to meet design specifications.
- Install wiring to mounted components, ensuring clear labeling for easy identification and troubleshooting.
- Test individual components using electronic test equipment and analog meters to verify functionality.
- Conduct test runs on assemblies to ensure proper operation.
- Create and apply labels for controls and components for accurate identification.
- Diagnose and repair components that do not meet performance standards.
- Fabricate and assemble skids, boxes, and other packaging materials for shipping, including banding and weighing items.
- Perform fabrication tasks such as plasma cutting, drilling, and welding to integrate cabinets and controls.
- Utilize an Ironworker machine to cut and punch angle pieces for resistor racks.
- Safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move components as required.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in reading schematics and technical drawings.
- Experience with electronic testing equipment and basic troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with tools and machinery such as plasma cutters, welders, and parts washers.
- Ability to fabricate and assemble customized components and control systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.
- Familiarity with safe operation of overhead cranes and forklifts (certification preferred).
