Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain management, logistics, industrial engineering, business, or related field or equivalent experience is required.
- At least 8 years of progressive distribution center experience and at least five years of leadership experience.
- Experience utilizing a Warehouse Management System (WMS)/Yard Management Systems (YMS), material handling equipment and/or various storage systems.
- Experience with distribution center automation and robotics.
- Effectively supervise and develop team, fostering accountability and modeling Casey’s values to help create and maintain a culture of commitment and empowerment. Ability to collaborate and build relationships based on transparency and mutual respect both internally and externally.
- Ability to express thoughts and ideas, clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing to senior leaders as well as warehouse team.
- Ability to identify and understand problems, challenges, and opportunities by analyzing and comparing data to reach a beneficial result and return on investment.
- Must be able to assess and make decisions quickly. Ability to interpret policies and contracts and possess a solid understanding of OSHA and FDA regulations related to distribution center operations.
- Must have strong planning and forecasting skills. Understanding of change management and operational performance from areas outside of direct reports.
- Work is performed in a warehouse and an office setting and requires the ability to move around the distribution center for observation, including but not limited to walking, bending, and lifting.

- Collects, organizes, and analyzes distribution center key performance indicators (KPI’s) and operational data to identify areas of opportunity, develop improvement plans, drive to resolution and ensuring accountability across business process owners.
- Collaborates with other Distribution Center Directors to develop and drive inventory control measures for all products within the distribution center. Reviews receiving volumes to ensure inventory levels meet specifications. Directs and oversees the record keeping of all receipts, shipments, transfers, shortages, and breakage of supplies, materials, and/or merchandise. Manages shipping, receiving, and stock handling procedures to ensure orderly and timely receipt and shipment of products to all Casey's store locations.
- Consults with functional managers to gather information and evaluate the distribution center's operation to identify cost-efficient methods and procedures. Challenges the current business processes and directs managers to eliminate waste by reducing nonvalue-added activities. Guides teams to identify, recommend and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and waste. Ensures that all processes and procedures are consistent across all sites. Develops, implements, and maintains best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Audits regularly to ensure SOPs are being adhered to. Develops, maintains, reports, and improves on capacity, productivity, and quality standards.
- Identifies key stakeholders and partners across organization to solicit feedback on performance, develop plans to address issues, and implement improvements. Collaborates with other DC Directors and Director, Transportation on best practices between DCs and transportation teams.
- Ensures compliance with all Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Effectively fulfill responsibilities as a process owner within the established control environment. Oversee those involved in the process to ensure the effectiveness of the controls other team members are involved in.
- Monitors performance against volume required and directs appropriate leadership towards actions required for achieving targets.
- Responsible for hiring, training, salary administration, performance management, coaching and corrective actions for direct reports. Collaborate with team members on career development and goal setting. Act as a champion of a committed and empowering culture within the Distribution Center, working with direct reports and team members on modeling Casey’s Cares values.
- Actively works to develop the leadership skills of direct reports to improve processes, engagement, and communication both internally, within the DC, as well as externally, to other partners.
- Create a dynamic workplace that effects positive employee relationships by developing employee engagement and recognition programs and ensuring all employees are treated fairly, with respect, and have the tools necessary to perform their jobs.
