Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics or Supply Chain. Six years of transportation experience in lieu of degree is acceptable.
- Four years of experience in transportation leadership role required.
- Experience conducting business using multiple software systems and processes. Strong skill base and comfort with technology including Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, routing or dispatching systems and electronic logging devices.
- Transportation-related (Federal, State and DOT), Food safety-related (FSMA) and operations-related safety (OSHA), regulatory compliance policies, and quality control practices preferred.
- Ability to supervise, coordinate and direct the work of the subordinates. Analyze the requirements of the situation and take corrective action.
- Able to work with minimum supervision, meet the scheduled timelines, and organize the work accordingly.
- Ability to influence change management and operational performance from areas outside of his/her direct reports.
- Evaluate driver’s compliance with established food safety, safety, government regulations and procedures.
Additional Requirements:
- Work is primarily sedentary and performed in an office setting. Some travel may be required.

Overview
As the Grocery Transportation Manager, you will manage the private fleet to ensure the timely transportation of groceries from distribution centers to stores, returns from stores to distribution centers, and vendor product to distribution centers. Ensure goals are accomplished efficiently and cost effectively so stores safely receive the right product on time and efficiently. Manage operations and staff to assure a safe and continuous workflow and achieve maximum efficiency.
- Responsible for hiring, training, salary administration, performance management, coaching and corrective actions for direct reports. Responsible for collaborating with team members on career development and goal setting. Live and model our Casey’s C.A.R.E.S. values.
- Create a dynamic workplace that effects positive employee relationships by developing employee engagement and recognition programs and ensuring all employees are treated fairly, with respect, and have the tools necessary to perform their jobs.
- Ensure goals related to operational performance, quality and positive employee relations are communicated and achieved through standardization, sharing of best practices, and continuous improvement.
- Identifies, collects, organizes, and analyzes Grocery Fleet Operation Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and Operational Data to identify areas of opportunity, develop improvement plans, drive to resolution and ensuring accountability across business process owners. Analyzes operating costs, equipment utilization, fuel mileage and driver wages.
- Review logistics problems, participate in the development and implementation of solutions and assist in increasing business growth by improving operations and guest service.
- Plan, monitor and execute staffing schedules and adjust as needed to ensure proper staffing levels that support operational demands and business objectives.
