Job Description:
Casia Lodge & Ranch is seeking a dedicated and experienced Wrangler to join our team. This role is pivotal in maintaining the well-being of our horses, ensuring the success of our guest ride program, and enhancing the overall guest experience. The Wrangler will oversee horse care, manage guest ride operations, maintain equestrian grounds and equipment, and provide exceptional service to our boarders and guests.
This position is seasonal; April – October. $20/hour; on-site housing at a reduced rate is available.
Responsibilities:
Horse and Facilities Care (5 Days/Week):
- Feed and water all horses and donkey.
- Administer grain and supplements as directed.
- Oversee and facilitate horse turnout as scheduled.
- Provide basic care, including applying fly masks, general hoof care, and bathing/cooling during summer months.
- Report any health concerns or maintenance needs promptly to property manager.
- Water paddocks and monitor for fence and ground repairs as necessary.
- Drag paddocks weekly to maintain manure buildup.
- Facilitate hay sourcing, delivery and storage as necessary.
Guest Ride Program Management:
- Coordinate and manage guest ride schedules, ensuring all logistical details are handled seamlessly.
- Guide guest rides, provide basic riding instruction, and ensure all guests adhere to safety protocols, including signing liability waivers and meeting helmet and footwear requirements.
- Collaborate with marketing efforts, including media interviews, social media content creation, and guest engagement.
- Work with team members to organize rides for wedding parties or private groups.
- Act as a knowledgeable ambassador for Casia Lodge & Ranch, answering guest questions about the property and surrounding area.
Tack and Equipment Maintenance:
- Clean and maintain all tack and equipment, including saddles, bridles, bits, halters, brushes, and other items.
Training and Exercise:
- Train and exercise guest horses pre-season to ensure safety and readiness for guest rides.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a wrangler or equine handler.
- Strong knowledge of horse care, training, and basic health management.
- Exceptional communication and guest service skills.
- Ability to manage schedules and coordinate with team members effectively.
- Familiarity with English tack and equipment maintenance.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
