This instructor has the opportunity to direct and/or musical direct productions throughout the academic year as needed.Responsibilities: The Instructor will maintain a modern and transferable Musical Theatre curriculum that aligns with NAST accreditation standards. They will collaborate with colleagues on theatre productions (musicals and plays) and teach courses relevant to their field of study and individualized expertise. Potential courses include but are not limited to, Introduction to Theatre; Musicianship 1; Musicianship 2; Studio Voice (Voice Lessons); Musical Theatre Performance Techniques; Theatrical Voice & Diction; Auditioning; and Special Topics in Musical Theatre.The Instructor will perform additional duties which includes recruiting majors, advising students, preparing and submitting syllabi, evaluating student performance and progress, and serving on department and campus committees. The faculty member is also responsible for adhering to institutional policies, maintaining regular office hours and attendance at all scheduled classes and rehearsals. The successful candidate will work as an integral member of the department and college, contributing to its growth and success through collaboration and maintaining a positive work environment.

Serve as musical director (teach the cast the musical score and potentially recruit and rehearse any pit orchestra or small ensemble).Demonstrate vocal training with a strong commitment to student vocal health.Work collaboratively within the department and the production team.Develop and teach courses in the musical theatre curriculum.Demonstrate continuous professional development within the discipline and in instructional methodologies.Evaluate students and assess outcomes.Maintain and submit accurate student records, mid-term and final grades, degree evaluations.Advise students, maintain office hours, attend departmental, production, and school meetings, and serve on campus committees.Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and community members.Procure appropriate materials needed for course instruction.Assist with departmental recruitment.

Work Environment: Typical work environment includes a classroom, office, studio, and stage. Normal safety precautions are required. While work is usually performed during the typical workday, occasional early morning, late evening, and weekend work is required. Noise levels are minimal to moderate, and include performances with a moderate level of sound. Short periods of time will be spent outdoors, traveling between campus buildings in various weather conditions.Physical Demands: Employee must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time, speak, hear, use hands and fingers to handle materials and use computer, feel, and reach with hands and arms. Frequent lifting of up to 20 pounds may be required. Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required, e.g. when moving audio equipment.
