THE SCHEDULE:
Join our team as the Director of Property Tax Valuation - Equalization, where you'll enjoy a rewarding 8 AM to 5 PM schedule, Monday through Friday.
YOUR ROLE:
As the Director of Property Tax Valuation - Equalization for Cass County, your day is filled with purpose as you ensure fair property assessments that impact the community. You conduct detailed appraisals of agricultural, commercial, and residential properties, leading your dedicated team in utilizing the Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) system for accuracy and efficiency. Engaging with property owners during public hearings, you clearly explain assessment procedures and address their concerns. At board meetings, you advocate for policies that uphold compliance with state legislation, while mentoring your staff and managing the department's budget. Each task you tackle and each inquiry you address reinforces your commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of Cass County residents.
OUR REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid driver's license
- Bachelor's degree in business management, finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in real estate appraisal
- 3 years in a managerial role
- Valid North Dakota State Class 1 Assessor's certificate or ability to obtain within 2 years of hire
- Knowledge of tax assessment procedures
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to defend assessments and effectively explain the process
- Ability to operate necessary computer software, such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal Systems (CAMA), & Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to create and maintain effective working relationships with peers, superiors, and external government agencies
