Chuukese Translator/Pacific Islander Community Health Worker
Cass Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Chuukese Translator to help bridge language and cultural gaps in healthcare. In this vital role, you’ll provide accurate, real-time interpretation and translation of medical information for Chuukese-speaking patients to support our providers, nurses, and clinical teams. You’ll also collaborate with Cass County Public Health and care coordination staff on health equity initiatives aimed at expanding access, improving patient understanding, and removing barriers to care for the Pacific Islander community across Cass County and surrounding areas.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- Fluency in Chuukese and English
- Ability to accurately translate complex medical terms and instructions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Commitment to patient confidentiality
- Flexibility to work occasional hours outside of a standard schedule
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation of medical advice and health information between patients and clinical staff
- Translate written materials such as patient education handouts and appointment reminders
- Support outreach and health education efforts related to vaccine equity, diabetes prevention, prenatal care, and child wellness
- Assist in connecting patients and families to local services and resources through appropriate referrals
- Participate in community health events and serve as a liaison for the Pacific Islander community
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow all confidentiality policies and HIPAA guidelines
- Attend team meetings, training sessions, and public health planning discussions
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Public Health teams
