Position Summary
-
The Community Wellness Internship delivers professional-level community wellness programming and serves as a connector and bridge builder between various working groups around community health initiatives to build capacity for and deliver wellness-focused programming and to serve as a resource for Cass County communities and organizations. The Community Wellness Intern will support several high-priority community health issues identified in the most recent Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) aimed at improving the health of our community. Key focus areas will include mental health, childcare, housing, older adult services and support, physical fitness and outdoor recreation, healthy food access and awareness, substance misuse and addiction, and other priorities identified through county health improvement activities.

Essential Job Functions
-
Assists with coordination of the regular meetings of the Healthy Cass County coalition, a community-focused network aimed to promote the health and well-being of Cass County residents and spread health information and programs throughout the county, to help prevent duplication of efforts and to identify, initiate or plan needed programs to meet identified goals.

Assists the Cass County Coalition for Mental Wellness, a mental health sub-group of Healthy Cass County aimed to build resilience, reduce stigma and promote mental wellbeing in the community, with outreach, marketing and coordination for campaigns and events throughout the summer.

Assists the Grow Another Row project with outreach strategies including social media, digital newsletters and media releases - to reach partners, growers, volunteers and food-insecure audiences in and around Cass County.

Assists the Cass County Local Food Policy Council with outreach, marketing and coordination for mobile food pantries, local food coupon program, support of local food pantry partners and other activities throughout the summer.

Promotes and plans local summer wellness events in collaboration with community partners- providing support in creating marketing materials and assisting with event logistics.

Assists the Public Health Director with the Community Health Needs Assessment and provides leadership to efforts to meet the goals of the County Health Improvement Plan.

Creates impact reports for project partners and grant funders; may help identify project funding sources and assist with writing/managing grants as time allows.

Serves as a resource to Cass County communities, organizations, and businesses for evidenced-based wellness resources and programs.

Complete special projects as needed. Set timetables and schedules; conduct research; develop and organize information.
