Completion of an accredited speech therapist educational program

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

Active license to practice speech therapy in the state of Iowa

BLS

Valid Drivers License

Essential Job Functions
-
Obtain information from physicians, providers and patients needed to develop plans of care for inpatient and outpatient populations.
-
Conduct and make recommendations utilizing video swallow fluoroscopies with radiologist and radiology department.
-
Utilize electronic medical record to document care plans, daily notes, updated care plans as outlined in policies and procedures of the rehabilitation department.

Supervise speech therapy assistants, technicians, and other rehabilitation services support staff.

Participate in staff conferences, in-services and educational programs.
-
May effectively work with a variety of age groups from pediatrics to geriatrics.
-
Maintain licensure through approved continuing education hours as required by the state of Iowa.

Maintains familiarity with various types of medical insurance and obtain pre-authorizations or re-authorization as required by patients’ health care insurers or managed care providers.

Perform other related duties as required from rehabilitation director.
