Diesel/Light to Medium Duty Truck Technician
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Diesel Technician to join our team at Cassill Motors, a leading used car dealership specializing in high-quality pre-owned vehicles. As a Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines in various makes and models of trucks and vehicles. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in diesel engine systems and repair processes, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Enjoy a 4 day work week!
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic testing to identify issues with diesel engines and related systems.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on diesel engines, fuel systems, exhaust systems, and other mechanical components.
- Inspect, test, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles and light to medium duty trucks
- Repair or replace faulty parts, such as injectors, turbochargers, or fuel pumps.
- Thoroughly and properly inspect light to medium truck chassis
- Keep accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time spent on each job.
- Collaborate with service advisors and other team members to prioritize and complete service requests.
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment and follow safety protocols.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and new diesel technologies.
- Assist with the training of junior mechanics and apprentices as needed.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Diesel Technician, preferably in a dealership or automotive repair setting.
- Strong understanding of diesel engine systems, components, and repair techniques.
- Strong understanding of light to medium duty truck chassis, components and repair techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes.
- Familiarity with using diagnostic tools and equipment specific to diesel engines.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in diesel mechanics or related field preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a variety of diesel-powered vehicle
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Stamina to work in a garage environment for extended periods, standing, bending, and crouching.
- Ability to work with hazardous materials, tools, and machinery in a safe and responsible manner.
