A CNC Mill Operator (specifically Mazak Controls) who fabricates Cast Nylon parts that meet customer specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following is an outline of the basic duties and responsibilities of the position identified above. It describes the duties and responsibilities in the broad scope and is not intended to be all-inclusive. Individual(s) in this position may from time-to-time be assigned other duties as appropriate.
- Performs typical machine shop operations such as setting up machine, loading and cycling parts to run production lots
- Detects machine malfunctions, and debugs and edits programs as appropriate to assure product is being produced according to blueprint specifications
- Sets up and runs the CNC Mill
- Communicates with supervisors and co-workers regarding productions runs
- Trains and assists new and/or less experienced machinists and sets up machines for off shift and/or less experienced machinists
- Maintains inventory of tools and equipment used for machining process
- Tracks incoming material, and travelers in order
- Must be able to use QC equipment; i.e. mics, calipers, gages, etc.
- Must be able to read and interpreted blueprints
- Performs inspection of machined products (including documentation of results) and completes and maintains appropriate paperwork for Quality and ISO compliance
- Practices good housekeeping and safety habits, supports and follows company policies and procedures, and performs other duties as assigned
- Must be able to perform, but not limited to, the following tasks: milling, turning, drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing and sanding
- Must be able to maintain an acceptable productivity rating established for each product type
- Must be able to perform maintenance and preventive maintenance of equipment as well as cleaning of equipment
- Must have a strong background in set-up on lathes and mills
- Must be able to read programs and make edits as needed
- Must be knowledgeable of continuous improvement methods such as GTO (Scrap reduction)
- Must be able to prioritize workflow
- Must be able to correctly follow a given instruction or set of instructions in order to arrange things or actions in a certain order
- Must be able to communicate information and ideas verbally so others will understand
- Must be able to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum
- High School Graduate (or GED)
- Ability to perform basic math calculations such as decimal/fraction conversions, reading measuring tools.
- Completion of a CNC course, and/or a minimum of three years of hands-on training.
Preferred
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience on manual machines, and/or Certificate for CNC programming and operation, blueprint reading, and machine tools course
- Some knowledge of nylon applications helpful
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
- Pervious experience with an ISO style quality control system
WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
Normal manufacturing environment requiring physical activity such as:
- standing for long periods
- lifting to 50 pounds
- may become dirty at times
