What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mid to Senior Marine 3D Pipe Designer (ShipConstructor) position at Castille Marine Services, LLC?
Mid to Senior level Ship Constructor Designers with expertise in 3D product modeling (Shipconstructor) and detailed construction drawing development for complex ship construction including new vessel construction. These designers will bring team leadership experience, mentor junior designers, and assist in resolving design-related production challenges to ensure efficient and accurate execution.
This listing is specific to pipe designers and includes modelling/routing of all pipe and tube, penetrations, pipe hangers, updating equipment models as VFI is finalized, and finalization of the models.
Shipyard will provide functional drawing products, drawings standards and Vendor Furnished Information (VFI) to support the subcontractors modeling efforts. VFI updates will be provided as made available.
Shipyard will initiate the 3-D models by module that will include the structure outline, equipment based on initial VFI, some initial pipe routing, HVAC ducting, main cable ways and joiner bulkheads as a starting point.
Designer will be responsible for updated and completing Modeling / Routing all pipe, tubing, penetrations, pipe hangers, updating equipment models as VFI is finalized. All equipment shall be modelled smart with part attributes as defined unless otherwise directed by Shipyard. Designer shall be responsible for running clash detection checks in Shipconstructor and resolving any interference issues prior to model completion.
Construction drawings shall be developed and annotated based on the example drawings provided by Shipyard. Subcontractor shall provide sample batch of drawing sheets so that Shipyard can validate that the Designer is adhering to Shipyards standards and avoid rework. Construction drawings shall be broken down by module and sub assembly based on Shipyard build strategy. In parallel to the issuing of construction drawings the Designer shall develop Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM’) in Shipyards format.
The Designer shall implement their own checking processes of the model and in addition the model will be reviewed weekly by Shipyard and Shipyard Human Systems Engineering (HSI) subcontractor in Navisworks. Comments shall be reviewed and discussed the following week. All comments must be adjudicated.
Shipyard will run the weekly meetings with the Designer utilizing Webex software.
Pipe Drawings shall contain spools for all size piping, pipe arrangement drawings by system, hanger drawings, pipe bend information, and accessory information for bolts/nuts/gaskets.
All modeling is to meet the requirements of the Ship Specification paying particular attention to (HSI). Human Factors Engineering design criteria for the HM&E systems subsystems and equipment, and shipboard displays and human computer interaction other than MCS, shall be in accordance with ASTM F1166. Additional requirements or clarifications may be provided depending on the project assigned.
