Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and assessments for patients of all ages
- Diagnose and treat various eye conditions and diseases
- Prescribe and fit corrective lenses, including glasses and contact lenses
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgeries
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices and preventive measures
Requirements:
- Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited optometry program
- Valid state license to practice optometry
- Strong knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and diseases
- Proficiency in conducting vision tests and interpreting results
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and colleagues
- Knowledge of medical coding, billing, and insurance processes
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
Skills:
- Ability to perform vital signs measurements for comprehensive patient evaluation
- Experience in providing specialized eye care for pediatric patients
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques for maintaining sterile environments during procedures
- Familiarity with geriatric eye care and addressing age-related vision issues
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems, to document patient information accurately
- Understanding of medical terminology to communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals
- Familiarity with medical coding principles to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement processes
- Strong knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and diseases to diagnose and treat various eye conditions
