A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A Customer Service Specialist,

This individual is responsible for answering incoming telephone and email inquiries while providing the highest level of customer service to both our internal and external customers. They provide backup support for submission of claims, and follow-up, provide payers with requested/additional documentation, and secure the highest level of reimbursement. This role primarily involves answering incoming telephone and email inquiries from patients, clinicians, insurance plans, and area sales managers. They assist with insurance billing-related questions, educate callers on our reimbursement process, billing policy, and need for required documentation for appeals, and ease any concerns. They place outgoing calls or emails to patients, physician offices, and/or sales for required information. They review and resolve front-end claim issues for timely and accurate claim submission, review EOBs and electronic remittance advices, denial letters, assign appropriate ANSI codes, and take necessary action in the billing system. They place calls to insurance companies to obtain missing information and/or determine the status of submitted claims as needed. They utilize payer portals or place follow-up calls to payers for claim status, post insurance, client, and patient payments, and take necessary action in the billing system. They provide additional documentation to payers when requested to fully adjudicate claims, review and submit medical records to provide proof of medical necessity/criteria to payers, investigate, evaluate, and report payer trends to identify opportunities for process improvement. They are responsible for working various billing-related work queues in the billing system and identifying and reporting changes to insurance company processing requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum Requirements
    • Minimum of three years of customer service experience, preferably in a call center environment
    • Minimum of two years of health insurance billing with experience in identifying and resolving claim issues
    • Experience collaborating with patients, providers, and insurance plans throughout the billing cycle
    • Experience researching and utilizing payor websites
    • Certification in Medical Billing and/or Coding or equivalent experience
    • Must demonstrate the ability to type 35 WPM with 90% or higher accuracy.

  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, non-exempt position, working remotely from your home office based in the USA.
