OVERVIEW:
As an Engineer II, you will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on all hotel equipment including kitchen, plumbing, pool, HVAC, boiler, work areas and guest rooms. You will use your communication and guest service skills to interact with guests and respond to all room calls as necessary. To keep everything in order, you will maintain proper records of the Rooms Preventive Maintenance Program and Work Request Program. You will also support Fire and Life Safety Systems as a team with Safety and Security. To succeed in this position, you should be able to stand for periods of 8-10 hours, lift at least 50 pounds, be able to bend, squat and stretch in areas of limited space and be able to communicate clearly and pleasantly in English.
While not required, display proficiency in at least one of the following categories and above average skills in two more of the following categories and basic skills in the remaining categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, welding, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, customer service, and/or general building management. Safely perform repairs of the physical property, electrical, plumbing and mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration and pool heaters – ensuring all methods, materials and practices meet company standards - with little or no supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Respond and attend to guest repair requests.
• Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues with little to no Supervision
• Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines.
• Carry equipment (e.g., tools, radio). Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment.
• Troubleshoot basic plumbing (plunging toilet, unclog drains etc), electrical equipment (lamps, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devises, replace electrical switches and outlets and other guestroom items. Program TV’s and perform other engineering-related duties
• Troubleshoot and perform mid-level repairs on all types of equipment (e.g., pumps and motor replacement),
• Display working knowledge of all engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance, energy management, and other systems, including devices that interact with such programs.
• Perform mid-level troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems. (e.g.troubleshoot light fixtures that don’t work, troubleshoot guestroom hot water issues and snake drains, trouble shoot ice machines that don’t work)
• Display basic ability to repair or replace PVC pipe, copper pipe and pex.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
• Record information for unfinished calls prior to shift change.
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships.
• Display the ability to train and mentor other engineers (e.g., Engineer I)
• Lead others as required
• Comply with quality assurance standards.
• Follow company and department policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional follow uniform standards; wear nametag; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
• Follow property specific procedures for handling emergency situations (e.g., evacuations, medical emergencies, natural disasters).
• Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time.
• Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
• Have access to reliable transportation and follow attendance policy
ADDITIONAL POSITION DUTIES:
• Respond to any reasonable task assigned by Director of Engineering/Engineering Manager.
• Assist in other areas as needed.
• Notify Loss Prevention/Security of any reports of theft, safety hazards and life safety deficiencies.
• All other duties as assigned.
