Castle Rock Hospital District is looking for an As-Needed CPR Instructor to join the team.
Summary of Job:
Works in close harmony with the Ambulance Department and Human Resources to ensure that staff and community First Aid and CPR classes are held regularly. Responsible for planning, coordinating, and teaching American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid/CPR/AED, Basic Life Support (BLS), and any other qualifying classes.
Essential Job Functions:
- Thorough knowledge and application of American Heart Association rescue skills and ability to teach said skills.
- An understanding of facility characteristics, rules, policies and procedures.
- Leadership and public relations skills.
- Communication and decision-making skills.
- Teach and instruct AHA classes to employee(s) and patron(s) and assist them in achieving their certification.
- Perform cleaning tasks after every class (such as cleaning mannequins and equipment).
- Attend in service trainings.
- Be familiar with American Heart Association courses and know how to use course materials effectively.
- Adapt your teaching approaches to the age, experience and ability of participants so they can meet course objectives.
- Provide for the health and safety of participants, including ensuring that all teaching and practice areas are free of hazards, and that materials and equipment are safe.
- Cover all material required.
- Complete records and reports in a timely manner.
- Perform additional tasks as requested.
- Performs other related duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma/GED required. Associate degree or higher preferred.
- Must be able to work well with others.
- Must be able to recognize needs and be sensitive to others.
- Must be able to exchange information with others clearly and concisely.
- Receive guidance and supervision; follow CRHD policies and safety practices, work procedures; meet deadlines, punctuality and attendance standards.
- Currently certified as an American Heart Association BLS Instructor and Heartsaver FA/CPR/AED Instructor.
- Experience in teaching American Heart Association classes is preferred.
- Ability to work independently with little direct supervision using time management skills.
- Ability to interact with the public and co-workers under circumstances which require the application of specific knowledge, tact, diplomacy, and sound judgment.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
