JOB TITLE: After School Care Assistant (Oakwood Elementary School) (Part-Time) - Temporary Position for Remainder of 2024-25 School Year
REPORTS TO: Principal
SALARY: Hourly, Pay Scale 54
STATUS: Part-time, Non-exempt, Non-benefits
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Provide, instruct and participate in a variety of activities for students including but not limited to: homework assistance, physical/recreational activities, student skill building activities, and opportunities for creative projects.
- Provide an environment that builds self-esteem in students
- Supervise children attending the program and promote safety and respect amongst all participants (Grade Range Pre-K through 5)
- Ensure a friendly and supportive atmosphere is maintained by developing strategies to support children in managing their behavior
- Respond to the individual needs of children and establish stable and consistent relationships with each child and their families/caregivers
- Ensure that the health and safety needs of the children are met and all health and safety issues are dealt with immediately and appropriately
- Ensure correct procedures are followed for administering first aid
- Ensure proper sign-in and sign-out procedures are followed
- Complete other duties as assigned
MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or higher education credential, preferred
- Previous experience as a daycare assistant, preferred
- Must be available to work, After School: Monday through Friday: 2:45-6:00 PM
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to work well with children
- Experience with leading children/youth activities
- Skilled in developing creative activities for K-5 students
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, the public, and program participants
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, participants, and parents
- Demonstrate problem solving ability
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk and listen. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to fingers, handle, or feel: reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds or more at times.
