Job Summary:
The Quality Technician supports quality function by performing specific tasks related to customer complaints and new product launching testing (FAIR / PPAP). This position supports manufacturing improvement activities by implementing, training, and analyzing pre-established testing procedures, and inspection procedures resulting from those improvement actions. Assist the process as a whole by auditing product and manufacturing processes.
Qualifications
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform product and manufacturing process audits to ensure consistent application of prescribed practices and instructions.
- Assist in the development and revision of Measurement programs (VMM) as well as associated training or retraining required.
- Develop Part related PPAP based on master copies for Control Plans, Process Flows, and Failure Mode Effect Analysis per applicable work-center and manufactured item.
- Prepare inspection reports of product provided by customer.
- Test, maintain and repair testing instruments to conformance to established standards.
- Verify new product (golden) jobs coming out of QC for accuracy and completeness.
- Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective action to supervisor.
- Work with production management and Quality Assurance to provide feedback and training to employees regarding accuracy of production procedure
- Other duties as required.
Skills and/or Competencies:
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Be fluent in English (Spanish is a Plus)
- Must be organized, flexible and able to complete assignments within defined timeframes
- Experience in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, customer, military and federal specifications
- Behaves ethically and professionally. Self-motivated (takes action without being prompted) and results-oriented.
- Experience with operation of CMM Inspection equipment and Gage R&R studies preferred.
Education/Experience:
- Two plus years of experience as a Quality Technician in a manufacturing environment
- Thorough understanding of the manufacturing (grinding, drilling,
- Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
- Understanding of and experience with the use of quality tools such as PSW, Control Chart, FMEA, SPC, FAIR, Cp, Cpk
- ASQ CQT Certification a plus
