Underground Laborer
Job Description:
We are looking hire an Underground laborer who would operate equipment, a boring machine operator/locator for our Columbia location. This is a full-time position with very competitive wages. Position Information:
Our ideal underground candidate must have extensive knowledge in all areas concerning underground cable procedures and techniques. Must have a strong background in electrical and utility knowledge with hands-on experience in various aspects of underground maintenance and installation. Must be able to interpret and understand blueprints and map designs.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in operating underground related equipment, boring machines and locators
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to use power and hand tools effectively
- Ability to read and interpret network prints
- Ability to work in various weather conditions
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Must have reliable transportation, be dependable and punctual
- Ability to travel when needed
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Must be able to pass a drug, background, DOT and MVR screenings
Responsibilities:
- Safely utilize machinery and tools
- Understand and follow OSHA safety requirements to complete the job (s) safely and efficiently
- Follow all safety regulations and company policies during operations
- Ensure all daily data is reported properly
- Work in multiple locations
- Clean and prepare construction sites as needed, including erecting scaffolding, removing and properly disposing of debris and waste materials, and digging trenches.
- Report incidents immediately to safety director, foreman or HR in accordance with incident reporting procedures established by the company
