What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructor, BLS position at CATALDO AMBULANCE BUSINESS TRUST?
The BLS Educator organizes, develops and presents the programs offered by the Cataldo Education Center. The BLS Educator is required to provide material that follows National EMS Standards and the National Scope of Practice. The BLS Educator is responsible for adhering to all Massachusetts OEMS standards. The BLS Educator must be certified in the State of Massachusetts as an EMT or higher level.
Responsibilities of Instructor, BLS
1. Coordinate and instruct, as appropriate, CEC orientations for new employees primarily focused on BLS curriculums.
2. Coordinate Driver Education and Training Program.
3. Provide remediation as prescribed by Medical Direction and/or clinical oversight.
4. Participate in the development of courses.
5. Create and instruct informative presentations utilizing available resources and technology.
6. Participate in the update of policies and procedures.
7. Perform ongoing assessment of programs to ensure relevance, and compliance with regulatory standards as well as any changes to MA Statewide Treatment Protocols. Modify programs, as needed, based on ongoing assessments.
8. Ensure that all material complies with the National Scope of Practice and the National Standard Curriculum as well as MA Statewide Treatment Protocols.
9. Establish relationships with instructors and students that supports and encourages the philosophy of education.
10. Displays a commitment to learning and improvement by continuous lifelong learning.
11. Adhere to company’s policies and procedures including company dress code.
12. Maintain didactic and practical learning spaces.
13. Provide a clean, safe and secure lab and learning environment.
14. Maintain appropriate training records for all courses include OEMS rosters, attendance logs, etc.
15. Any other duties as assigned.
Experience of Instructor, BLS
2 years in an active patient care role, previous experience in coordination and teaching of EMT level classes, outstanding communication and organizational skills, ability to utilize technology employed by the CEC.
Valid driver’s license, National Registry of EMT certification, Massachusetts State License, BLS Instructor preferred.
**CEC will provided BCLS-I course that must be completed within 1 year if candidate is not currently certified
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; stand; walk; use fingers, hands and arms to reach, handle or operate basic office equipment, objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; taste or smell.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
