The Materials Planner/Buyer is responsible for managing all material related Planning activities needed to meet trial, commercial, and process development manufacturing requirements. The principal objective of the Materials Planner/Buyer is to coordinate and improve the material planning function within Catalent through the implementation of planning best practices and the full utilization of an ERP system. This position will closely interface with R&D, Manufacturing, Procurement, Finance, Quality Assurance, and Project Management to ensure that all Manufacturing requirements are met and on-schedule. This position is based 100% on-site in Greendale, IN.

The Role
- Write purchase orders in system and send to suppliers based on Trial Production schedule, purchase requisitions, and forecast files.
- Execute / monitor MRP calculations and messages.
- Drive maximum utilization of the ERP system (JD Edwards) for all MRP functions and inventory control.
- Interface with the Manufacturing and Quality groups to resolve material availability and production tracking issues on a real time basis.
- Monitor the "MRP to consumption" flow of materials from receipt to issuance; including release testing and material disposition.
- Coordinate production, inventory management, and procurement activities by partnering with the Scheduling Manager, Manufacturing, R&D, and Project Management.
- Manage materials throughout full lifecycle from initial creation through end of life through customer chargebacks and disposals.
- Work with Supply Chain to develop and implement inventory and planning strategies to support both MRP and non-MRP activities (i.e. reorder point planning, Kanban programs, safety stock demand planning, ABC categorization, etc.).
- Other duties assigned
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Proficiency with ERP / MRP systems (JD Edwards or similar) required.
- Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products required.
- Practical knowledge of MRP, database management, inventory planning and forecasting, and product structures.
- Candidate must be comfortable interacting with suppliers via email, telephone, and face to face interactions including situations that may require assertiveness.
- Must be organized, possess time management skills, and be able to manage changing priorities.
- Ability to develop processes and act as a change catalyst.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
