Responsibilities/Duties
Lead Project Estimation
- Perform the responsibilities of an Estimator on projects as assigned
- Present budget and bid estimate information to owner and design professional teams
- Prepare accurate quantity surveys and estimates for those divisions of the bid as assigned at all levels of estimates
- Create scope documents that communicate inclusions, exclusions and clarifications of the estimate to owners, architects and other stake holders
- Prepare complete costs estimates at every level of design, including, but not limited to; Conceptual, Schematic, Design Development and Construction Documents
- Analyze building systems as projects require, including recommendations on structural systems, MEP systems, etc. Analysis may include quantity survey, subcontractor pricing, unit costing, material breakdowns, etc. Research, organize, and strategically plan for estimate preparation, pricing, scheduling, and final submission to the client
- Prepare Bid Tabs for hard bid and negotiated projects with complete summaries and communicate understanding of scope with DOPS and assigned Project Managers
- Decipher bid opportunities and report accordingly, responding as directed
- Lead Preconstruction Kick-off meetings and Hand Off to operations meetings. Prepare agendas and meeting summaries
- Participate in project closeout meetings
- Maintain historical project data on behalf of the organization and utilize data create efficiencies in future estimates
- Collaborate with marketing to ensure all RFPs are submitted properly and thoroughly
- Collaborate with sales for client presentations
- Attend Architectural / Engineering design and owner meetings
- Attend project meetings and perform site investigations
- Attend project walk-through’s and communicate with owners, designers and subcontractors
- Identify, train, and mentor new leaders and be an ambassador of our culture
- Hold preconstruction and estimating team accountable through goals and objectives set by the Company
- Delegate job assignments and review workload as necessary
- Collaborate with Human Resources for employee performance discussions, recruitment needs, hiring, and terminations
- 10 years of estimating experience, preferably in a leadership role
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, structural or architectural engineering preferred, but not required
- Advanced knowledge of construction management processes and methods
- Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications
- Expert knowledge of building products, construction details, and safety regulations
- Ability to present projects to clients, architects and internal teams in a professional manner
- Self-motivated professional with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs
- Expert knowledge of all estimating programs including On-Center, I^2ft, Excel, etc.
- Demonstrate high level of emotional intelligence when dealing with all levels of the company and clients
- Desire to train, manage, and lead a team of professionals
- Strong time management and organizations skills
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
- Ability to effectively manage time, multi-task, and pay close attention to details
