Buyer

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the price negotiation of items required by the field operation and offices and ensures the needs are met with the best quality of the items at the best price.

Essential Job Functions:

• Review, place, and maintain orders with correct payment method.
• Correspond with vendors to obtain information such as quotes, availability, negotiations, order status; as well as resolving any discrepancies.
• Works with Mgr. of Purchasing and Technical Writing to research and prepare bid specifications then issue bid requests to several potential vendors and suppliers.
• Establish payment terms with vendors as instructed.
• Confers with departmental and center representatives to determine specific purchasing needs and resolve issues as they arise.
• Working with Accounts Payable, vouchering purchases and reconciling billing problems with the suppliers and/or centers.

Education and Experience:

Education

The MINIMUM formal relevant education required by the position. Experience in lieu of education will be counted as part of the formal education required.

• Associate’s degree required
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in business or related discipline preferred or equivalent level of experience

Experience

The MINIMUM relevant experience necessary to qualify for the position. Experience in lieu of education is to be counted as part of formal Education and not as part of the required experience.

• 2-3 years' purchasing items and equipment

Other Qualifications:

• Prior experience working in the Education Field a plus
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work with multiple departments and various levels of management
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Influencing skills
• Effective planning and prioritization skills

Shift Type: Full Time, Hybrid (minimum 3 days in office)

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day

Compensation: $26.64 - $39.95 hourly
