After School Instructors work with a group of up to 20 students from TK - 8th grade. Daily tasks include tutoring, homework assistance, and educational enrichment. Essential Job Functions:
- Provide tutoring and homework assistance to help students meet national standards.
- Collaborate with Site Coordinator to create and implement all Catalyst ExpandEd Learning (ExL) curriculum, rules, and procedures.
- Provide students with educational enrichment including positive youth development strategies, recreation and prevention activities, and the ability to teach youth positive life skills.
- Work collaboratively with staff members at site, both internally and externally.
- Track students' progress using programmatic protocol.
- Ensure students receive consistent supervision and provide a safe and supported environment.
- Instructors are responsible for maintaining a safe environment and are required to promptly complete all necessary safety documentation.
- Track attendance daily, including additional After School Enrichment & Safety (ASES) requirements where applicable.
- Filling out lesson planning form weekly.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism with students and families.
- Relay feedback from students and parents to the Site Coordinator.
- Attend regular staff meetings and district meetings.
- Support and participate in family and site-based events.
- Support other sites when needed or called upon if staffing constraints arise.
- Communicate regularly with the Site Coordinator regarding all aspects of the program.
- Apply approved behavior management techniques to address and support children with challenging behaviors.
- Undergo and maintain all assigned health and safety, education, and HR trainings.
- Participate in professional development enrichment opportunities.
- Promote an inclusive environment of teamwork to ensure Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is practiced/applied.
Education & Experience:
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must meet school district's requirements which may vary based on location.
- College units in education, recreation, child development desired.
Experience
- 6 months experience working with children preferred.
Other Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to solely manage a classroom of up to 20 students.
- Must be able to express ideas clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Understanding of behavior management and effective strategies for guiding student behavior.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with exceptional interpersonal and partnering relationship skills.
- Enthusiastic and highly motivated.
- Proven leadership and team-building skills.
