Supporting clients of the ACT team using personal recovery experiences.
Under general supervision, the ACT Peer Support Specialist uses experiences with personal recovery in assisting and supporting team clients. Must be able to provide peer interventions to clients regarding, but not limited to, symptoms of mental illness, coping skills, medications/side effects, and relapse prevention, and resources connection. The ACT peer specialist provides direct service, including social and emotional support and promotes recovery to the clients of the ACT team.
Qualifications
Self- identified as receiving mental health and/or substance abuse services now or in the past with the ability to articulate personal tools of recovery. This includes a significant period of recovery and stability as demonstrated by 2 years without hospitalization lasting longer than 72 hours, a significant period of sobriety, and free of jail time for 5 years. Must have received or be willing to receive certification by Ohio Empowerment for Peer Support Specialists and shall have documented competency in the areas of recovery, peer support, consumer advocacy, organizations, and psychiatric advance directives.
